ABOUT AUDREY

I am Audrey.

I grew up in Dunedin, New Zealand.
The South Island of New Zealand does not hold many opportunities for aspiring creatives and thespians, but I never let this dampen my ambition and drive.

Luckily for me, I love to travel, as I have moved several times in my life in the pursuit of work and career development.
From Dunedin I moved to Wellington, where I worked and studied part time for a year. From there I spent six months living and working in Auckland, before making the decision to travel around the world to undertake a unique MFA programme in The Netherlands. Upon completion I moved to the UK, in the hopes of building my life and career in London, and to hopefully settle down for a little bit.

Of course, Covid had different plans for us! And I find myself back in New Zealand for the foreseeable future.
My plans from here are to build my long term base in Auckland, New Zealand, but to still remain mobile in where I work. I love traveling for work, because it expands your social networks, experiences and just pure appreciation for the world we live and work in. I'm hopeful that when the industry recovers I'll be able to pick up work not only around New Zealand and Australia, but also in the UK, Europe and Asia.

As someone who works in both the practical and creative fields, I am always striving to find a balance in my life, and work that fulfills both sides of my brain. At the moment I largely work as a Stage Manager/Production Manager and pursue my creative work in my studio. I am hopeful to build on this studio experimentations into installation works and exhibitions.

I believe the skill and experience I have as an artist makes me better as at production and management, and my practicality and problem solving makes me better as a creative and maker.  I look forward to continuing these parallel journeys and seeing where they take me
