SCENOGRAPHIC RESEARCH

On this page you will find the results of my two years of research, as part of my MFA Scenography. We were required to present a research document, in whatever formart we felt embodied our research topc. As my research focused heavily on tactility, interactivity and personal choice, I wanted to create a document that people could choose to read in whatever order they wish. A work that allowed the reader to get just as much insight from reading one page as reading the whole "book". I chose 50 individual words, each integral to my research, and wrote a pages worth on how it was important to my research. All of the words and concepts interconnect, creating a kind of web, a map, which I provide as guidance for those that are looking for it. You can choose to read any individual page, or you can choose to read guided by one of the "paths" I provide at the beginning; alphabetical/number order, by theme (shown by the symbol in the corner on each page), by map section, or simple at random. In real life they can take taken from their box, shuffled and felt. Online, you will just have to imagine that experience, but the content is the same.
The second book, Research in Image, is a collection of photos I took throughout the research. Photography became an integral part of my process, so it seemed necessary for it to be connected to my document although I did not want to integrate it. I wanted to inspire the reader to create their own connections and conclusions, by choosing a page of text and a page of pictures and then reflecting on their connections or differences. Please spend some time exploring, investigating, and drawing your own conclusions. But also take a moment to reflect on your choices and realisations, as this was my hope all along fo rmy research.
To inspire presence and conscious transformations.
Research in Text
Having previously written at 14K words dissertation, I knew that I wanted my MFA Research Document to better reflect my research and my creative process, which is anything but linear. So I made a set of cards, each with a word that proved to be integral to my research. You can read all of them, or just one, and still have an idea of what my research is about. It asks the reader to not only mentally engage with the research, but also physically, and to make tangible choices in how they experience and engage with it.
Research In Image
Each of these 50 photos has been carefully selected, as it represents an tangible moment in my research process. Each was necessary to get to my final destination, and to learn all of the things I have.

My Process : Making the Sheets
A step by step of how I made the wax sheets for my final exhibition.
This process is the result of months of trials, experiments and research.  I have a precise reason for all of my decisions in how it goes. I hope to one day get to continue making these sheets and refining my creative process.
